We offer confidence-building, inclusive classes for all abilities in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, Acro and Pre-School ‘Introduction to Dance’. We focus on developing dance technique whilst offering an enjoyable place to learn and thrive.
Ballet
Using classical technique combined with modern approaches, this class lays the foundations for aspiring ballet dancers. Developing their co-ordination, strength, posture and musicality this class offers a fun and encouraging atmosphere to gain knowledge and understanding of this graceful art form whist leading a healthy lifestyle.
Jazz
An energetic and popular class combining a range styles from current dance trends to Broadway’s musical theatre. With a focus on technique and style, enjoy dancing and to the latest chart music whilst improving your flexibility and performance in this physically demanding class.

Acro Dance
Acro is the beautiful fusion of classical dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. Acro technique includes balancing, limbering. tumbling and partnering, based inflexibility, contortion and strength. Acro class must be taken in conjunction with another dance class as students are required to have an understanding of dance technique to access the acro class safely.

Commercial Dance
Commercial dance incorporates many different dance styles, including hip-hop and jazz. It is known for being energetic, expressive, and full of attitude. Commercial dance is all about performing with energy and precision while still making the routine look effortless.
Musical Theatre
Our musical theatre classes include dance, signing and drama. This class is for the triple threat, helping students build confidence, develop creativity and performance skills.
Our Teachers
We are delighted to present the Glasgow Dance Academy staff. All our classes are taught by highly trained, current and ex-professional dancers with specialist expertise in the field of dance. Each with over ten years teaching experience individually, all teachers are CRB checked.
We have full Disclosure Scotland, public liability insurance and PVG checked.
Hazel opened GDA in 2015 with an MEd in Learning and Teaching in the Performing Arts from Royal Conservatoire Scotland. Hazel leads the exam route for students with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, a qualified teacher of ISTD, presenting students for over 15 years.
Hazel is also a qualified Primary and Secondary Dance teacher with the General Teaching Council Scotland. Hazel’s unique experience and qualifications in the dance industry paired with an educational context gives a rounded approach to supporting young people achieve their best through a variety of teaching pedagogies.
Katie has worked with companies and artists including Rambert Contemporary Dance Company, National Theatre Scotland, Company Chordelia, Scottish Opera, Simon Fildes/Wyn Pottratz, and Barrowland Ballet. Katie is currently an associate artist with Company Chordelia.
Teaching has always been a passion of Shona’s. She currently teaches across Glasgow to students of all ages and backgrounds.
Constant danced professionally with Scottish Ballet for over 10 years and has created a number of works as an independent choreographer. These include creations for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the Cadences Festival in Arcachon, France.
He was selected to represent Scottish Ballet at the “Tell Tale Steps” Choreographic Lab organised by Northern Ballet in Leeds, led workshops for the Paris Opera Ballet School Summer Intensive and created works for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland as well as London Studio Centre’s IMAGES Ballet Company.
Constant ventured into the digital realm, showcasing his creative talent through projects featured on prominent platforms like Nowness and the BBC, reaching audiences across diverse mediums.

Asked Questions
Can I book a trial?
Yes! You can book a 2-week trial for any class. After this you will be invited to book the class and fully register. Book your trial here.
How can I pay?
We offer two week trials for all new students. Glasgow Dance Academy offer subscription bookings where fees are paid on the 1st of the month. We run classes 38 weeks of the year. You only pay for the weeks we run, evenly split over 12 months.
What should I wear?
Something comfortable that you can move easily in e.g. leggings and a T-shirt. We have uniforms for each class, available once full-registered to buy through our website.

What happens if I miss a class?
As the classes are booked in advance unfortunately we cannot offer a refund for missed classes. However, if you start half way through a term you will only pay from your first class onwards.
Can I sit exams at the end of the year?
Yes. We teach syllabus work from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and put students forward bi-annually when they have achieved the required level to sit the exams. These are internationally recognised qualifications and help build a fantastic profile for future applications showing commitment and achievement in extra curricular activities.
Is there an end of year show?
Yes. We work towards a big Summer show from January – June. It is a huge highlight for the dancers.
What are the class levels?
Classes are split by age, but students may move class at the discretion of the teacher depending on ability.
Can I stay in the class to watch?
We ask parents to remain outside the studios as much as possible. We understand young children sometimes find if difficult to leave parents but we are confident in our teachers’ ability to encourage and include new students.
What is the registration fee?
All new and existing students pay a basic annual fee when joining the school. This covers additional costs such as insurances, music licences etc.
How do I cancel my classes?
It’s no problem to cancel classes, however we ask you give a least one months notice before subscriptions can be cancelled. Please e-mail info@glasgowdanceacademy.com for any changes you’d like me make.
